So, though I'm not in any major danger from the Hurricane, it's basically going to do almost a 360 directly around us here. So we are going to be on the edge of it from tomorrow until Sunday. We'll get no crazy high winds (at least not forecast) but sort of high and a fair bit of rain. And of course there will be higher winds all around us where the main body is looping about. So it won't be a surprise if I lose power at some point in there. 

So I may be offline for some period of time. This isn't going to be any Hugo (thankfully, where I was without power for over a week) but there is opportunity for some local power infrastructure to get damaged at some point here. Of course I just saw that there are a number of nuclear plants in the path as well, so it's a good thing it's no Hugo.

At least we won't be short on water around here for a while.

One thing that will be interesting is that I have two large pecan trees, one at each end. And they are at the point of the year where the pecans start to fall, though still in the shell at this point. So it's probably going to sound like a firing range in here as they get blown off the tree and fairly high speed.

And of course as soon as I posted that, they changed the projected path to a much more shallow downward dip, so it's going to be considerably worse on Saturday than I thought (unless of course it changes again in another hour.) So I may bail out to my Dad's house early Saturday and ride it out there until late Saturday night.

Well the fun has begun. I'm probably going to camp out at my Dad's house tonight and through Saturday late at least, maybe until early Sunday. He had foot surgery and can't get around too well, so even if I felt like I could tough it out here, it would probably be good to have someone over there in case something went awry.

I seem to have survived, but it's still raining off and on for today and tomorrow. The precip percentage though drops way down here in a couple hours. A good thing since the ground is beyond saturated. Hopefully, being up quite high, we'll drain here faster than most. And the wind is down to almost nothing now, so hopefully not too many more trees will be hitting the power lines. There's still some trailing nasty bits out east of us, but that is going to rotate up and over us it looks like.

And we only got I think something between 7" and 10". I can't imagine what twice that would have been like.
