Dean, For the life of me I can't remember the format and I've searched for an hour. 

Value is %(1) 

I thought the above was right, but it's not working.

Hmmm... That information seems not to have survived the 5.x documentation format massive re-do. I'll put it on the list to get back in there. In the meantime, here's one of the Tip o' the Day posts I made here on the forum that covers that. Sorry about that.
