Best Resolutions for iOS using WebRIVA
#1
So I'm trying to do an interface for a iPhone 7 and can't find the right resolution to use.

Native resolution is 1334 x 750 but that i really not all available to the interface, so it has to be cut down a little - ho much - thats anyone guess.

Also, the scaing does not appear to be working.  I added &noscale=1 but its still a small interface in teh middle when I use a smaller interface so the buttons don't get too small

And Dean - can you please please fix up the help docs.  You have the commands for the URL hidden somewhere and my head hurts every time i need to try and find them.  Can we just have a section on Interface Viewers and then WebRiva under that - something obvious and easy to find.

Anyway, if people can recommend the best resolution to use across all the different iOS devices we can put them in a How To to help others in the future

Everything about the tools and how to run them is under /Tools. Always look there if you want to know the actual details of how to use the tools, as opposed to what the tools are used to do. I can of course put a short cut in the /Help section of the browser tree to make it quicker to get to.

If you add noscale=1 that disables scaling, or tries to. If you want to do one that's half size and let the phone scale it, then don't add that.

First figure out what it is doing in terms of scaling if you take that off. 2:1 is common. Create a very simple template or HTML page with some things at known offsets from the edges. That can help you see what is going on.

I'm happy to add a page of phone specific tweaks if people will tell me what they are.

I'm trying to work out what best works with some of the phones I have.

Is there a way to load a new template if you rotate the phone/tablet.

No, you can't react to the phone rotating. On Windows, if the IV is full screen it should update itself to remain full screen, but that's the only thing related to that that is currently implemented.

Though we could easily enough include one in the next version, in the meantime an obvious thing to do is to create a very simple template with marked off sizes on it, vertically and horizontally. Just a color file background and some lines at particular intervals with text every so many to indicate the size. That's a good way to judge what is happening in terms of sizes and scaling.
