Early Christmas

Christmas came early to the batwater household with an upgrade to Spectrum Ultra for our internet.  Last night at 2am (pain from foot surgery, dunno, was wide awake) trying to solve a speed problem with a Spectrum rep I found that I could upgrade our 100/5 to 300/20 for a mere $25 increase in our monthly bill and it is not a time limited promotion.  No brainer I'm thinking, 3x faster down and 4x faster up for an upcharge if $25 when days before it would have been an additional $60 to get the same service...  Bang, done, now cruising at 335/22, very noticeable difference and now when VPNing back home the connection rocks!!!

So that's 335Mb/s? That's pretty crazy. That's faster than most folk's home LANs still probably. Higher latency of course, but still.

Yup, Latency has been as low as 7 to the speed test but that is a complete crap shoot as to what you get from point a to point b. LAN is 1GB.

Spectrum is starting to roll out GB internet and with that symmetrical service (Yay!) requires the new DOCSIS 3.1 standard to be implemented.
