Just to be sure, is the post adding any kind of characters whatsoever to the content of the buffer before sending it?  The way I read the curl docs, it sounds like that literal string needs to be sent (not in binary form, but with nothing else added).

Yep, thats how I read it too....  Using data-ascii will form encode name/value pairs.  --data-binary won't.  

Data is posted in a similar manner as --data-ascii does, except that newlines are preserved and conversions are never done.

Set bData=True that means you have a body/data to send with the POST.

Sure - I'm happy to create a post!  I still have a few things to figure out, plus I'm about to go out of town for a long weekend, but I'll start a work-in-progress thread.

I'll put more details in the how-to thread, but to answer your immediate question, I'm running Grafana and InfluxDB locally in Docker containers.
