Today is the 15th anniversary of the first public CQC release back in Feb. 2002. On the one hand it's difficult to believe that it's been that long. On the other hand, looking in the mirror, it's not that difficult to believe. That first version supported a whopping seven devices. It's grown a bit since then.
We won't wax nostalgic and break out any old movies of CQC controlling its first device or making user interfaces out of mud, but we felt that this is an important milestone and wanted to acknowledge it. There have been a lot of electrons under the automation bridge in those fifteen years, but CQC is still growing and improving, and that's an accomplishment in this industry.
To celebrate we are going to have a giveaway. It will be done on Reddit in /r/homeautomation. Currently it is planned to be posted on the 12th of Feb. We will be giving away a Silver license to the winner. This will be for new customers only. Not that we begrudge our existing customers winning something, but we want to let someone experience CQC who hasn't before. So sign up on Reddit if you haven't already done so and want to participate.
