What is the state of Ecobee3 compatibility with CQC?  I saw some posts from 2015 indicating a driver was under development.  Was that ever completed?

I think there's a third party driver in the Driver Development section. Yeh, here it is:

But it's not a V2 compliant driver, and it's not clear that it is compliaint with the 3 model. I'd be willing to do one, because it would be nice to support another thermostat option and lots of folks use these guys. Presumably that existing one would be a reasonable source of info as to how its done. Am I correct that it requires an internet connection and the driver has to talk to their servers? Why, oh, why?

Just another data point:  I use a pair of ecobee thermostats in my house.  Connected only through Alexa and my iPhone app, but I would tie them in to cqc at some point if I got motivated enough.
