TaRiva on Samsung Galaxy Tab 5
#11
So I made a request on TARIVA website about the re-connect issue and the developer mentioned he thought that Dean had worked on a new version that was XML based to work with Android. Any idea if this is accurate and were I might find it or is this just the Android Driver that was played with a few years ago but not really developed?

I assume he meant the Android one that I messed around with. It wouldn't work with recent stuff since it works via the auto-gen system and that's been changed since then. I guess I could try to dust it off or something, but ultimately I'd rather push forward for ah HTML5 based one that could run on multiple platforms.

I would also like to see one that is Web based too, so I don't have to deal with TaRiva.

BTW, for folks who have specific needs, it's already quite possible to create custom HTML5 based clients, based on the CQC Web Server using the WebSockets interface. I'm certainly open to some mercenary work for anyone who wants such a thing, as long as we are talking about something fairly limited. Or if you are comfortable doing that kind of thing, you can do it yourself. I don't want to get into some huge product, since that time would be better put into the HTML5 thing.

But limited, specialized clients are fairly straightforward to do. They need a little Web Server side CML support plus the HTML5/Javascript for the client. So, if you want to have something like, arming, media transport control, and a little lighting, and maybe a little status info, that's not too hard to whip up, as long as we aren't talking about a super-fancy interface.

Any idea when the HTML5 version will be ready?

It'll have to come after the current 5.0 work. Since I don't know when that will be finished (particularly since time has to continue to be spent also working in the 4.8 code base), I definitely can't say when the HTML5 work will be ready.
