TaRiva on Samsung Galaxy Tab 5
#1
I just purchased the TaRiva app and I cannot get it to work with CQC. I put in the CQC server IP address, input the account "Tablet", and input the password, and nothing happens. I ran the CQC Server install and selected Custom to check on the settings, and I needed to input the RIVA server so I input the CQC Server IP, and still nothing. What am I missing here?

You don't need to input the RIVA server except for the standard Windows RIVA client. For the iOS or Android apps you would enter that information into their configuration so that they can find the server.

You do need to make sure that the RIVA server is installed, which presumably you already had done or did during your reinstall above. And you need to make sure that the CQC user account you log in with on the RIVA client has a default template assigned, since that's the only way that RIVA clients can open an initial template.

There maybe other configuration requirements on the Android client as well, but those are the obvious things.

Thanks Dean, I got it working. Now I just need to remember how to change the rez for the template I want it to load as the Samsung defaults to 4k! If i can just get it to do 720p I might be closer to full screen.

Has anyone figured out how to get TARIVA to autoconnect after sleeping? Every time mine needs a long press and hit the connect to reconnect so using as a remote control with CQC is a pain. My IPAD auto connects as soon as you wake it up with the CQC app.

Is there a way to change the resolution on the taRiva app? I have a Samsung Note 5 and all my templates are so tiny I can't really read some of the text and I have to use the stylus to be able to click the right widgets. I sure would be nice to be able to zoom them to full screen.

If there's no native zoom type thingie available, you could always use the template scaling system to create a scaled version for use there.

I've always redone my templates as resolution on my devices has changed.

I was trying to figure out how to use this template pre-scaling and have some basic questions. I don't have my templates in subfolders, so they are all just in /user/ and reference other templates there and images in the CQC Image Repository, some from somewhere under /system/ and some from under /user/. It seems that I have to somehow get the "baseline" templates and their images in a subfolder structure under /user and modify them to have relative paths before I can use the scaling utility to make scaled copies in different subfolders under /user.

But I can't figure out how to create the new subfolder and move the "baseline" templates there. Do I need to somehow make copies of the /system images in subfolders under the /user/baseline subfolder and then reference those instead of the /system images so they can be scaled? Is there a discussion somewhere on how to do all this.

The system and user images are fine where they are. It will create new ones in the target directory (one per scaled output size, under the main target output directory.)

Though it's not recommended generally, and it'll be way easier in 5.0, for now probably the simplest thing is to go to:

[cqc]\CQCData\DataServer\Interfaces\User

On the master server. Your templates will be there. Make a new sub-directory and just copy your existing ones down into there. They will then show up down there. That'll leave your originals alone for now until you are ready to switch over. Don't try to play this trick on existing templates, i.e. coping stuff into an area where existing templates are. But, to create a new set, though it's not optimal, it's acceptable for now to do this.

Of course it'll be a bit tricky to know if you've found all of the old template path references and made them relative, since any you miss will just continue pointing to the old ones (of the same name) and still work.

I actually ran the demo Version of this app (from.the Tariva thread), and flat out refused to purchase this app because of this issue.

I never could figure out how to resolve this, and it became more than annoying to remember to constantly reconnect everytime my phone's screen turned off.
