old fashioned automatic garage doors generally have a button mounted on the wall somewhere...
and there are 2 wires going to that button... you just need to tap off those two wires and install a 'controlled' set of contacts that could simulate a button press... not sure that zwave is the best option, or if they even have a 'contact' device... it is low voltage (24V I think? maybe 12V), so just about anything could work... spare ELK contact maybe?

Yes, Mine does have the two buttons you can press to get it triggered.
I have an ELK as well as Z-wave, using both of those, what would probably be the best (inexpensive) way so that I can control it from the CQC? Can wire it to the ELK, and then have a button on the CQC trigger that? Thanks

well, if you have the elk, might as well use it...
first I would get a meter and verify the voltage from the garage door... then find a relay on the elk that is rated for that... and you are done... easy... if you don't have a relay on the elk that matches the rating of the garage door, then just get a relay like this for example (assuming this one does match) RELAY TELECOM SPDT 1A 12V (although I would try to get something locally... getting one relay from digikey isn't really cost effective...) and then just have the elk drive the new relay, and the new relay drives the door... still easy, but increases your cost by ~ $2.50...

May not fit into the "cheapest" category.. but I use Evolve LFM-20 relay switches for Z wave control.

This is an old thread, but thought I would post what I use/do for my garage door (LiftMaster 8550W). I tried the myQ app, but it is cloud based and after two years of use, I started having "phantom" openings at random times. After clearing out myQ, resetting/removing all garage door remote controls, and re-adding my remotes, the "phantom" operations ceased.
In addition to dumping myQ, I wanted a more robust and useful way of integrating my garage door with CQC. ===================================== ==========  ZWAVE INSTALL METHOD ==========  ===================================== Supply List MIMOLite Module (ZWave) Overhead Door Mount Contact Sensor LiftMaster Remote Control GE Outdoor Smart Plug Installation

==========  ALTERNATE INSTALL METHOD ==========  ======================================== If you do not want to use ZWave, then you can use this method, which is a bit more expensive because you will need to two Global Cache devices: an IP2IR module and an TCP/IP to Contact Closure (Relay). What I like about the ITach series from Global Cache is that they have a wired and wireless version for each device, and the wired devices are PoE. You could use the below set up with wireless devices to control a fence gate on a long driveway, etc. Supply List Global Cache IP2IR Module  Global Cache ITach Contact Closure Sensor Cable Global Cache iTach TCP/IP to Contact Closure (Relay) Overhead Door Mount Contact Sensor LiftMaster Remote Control
