Android RIVA Client: taRiva
Dean Roddey Wrote:Yeh, that's just internal stuff. And you are sure the time stamps correspond to the time you had it fail, right?

i'll check again. Its hard to read, and apparently there are several logs.

BTW to all: I just got RDP up & running for within the house (the security stuff above makes me not want to forward ports from the outside but babysteps)

i'll see if I can get it working, but heads up for those who didn't know: Only one user can access a machine at one time. That means unless you want to allow RDP access to your admin user, you'll have to setup another account, and the admin user will be logged off when you RDP in. I need to see if I have any programs that require my admin user to be logged in, dunno.

This is related to what was talked above about. Basic windows only allows one session, either the foreground or RDP. You can run more, but only the server version of Windows is set up to run multiples. You can do a hack on non-Server windows to get two, one for the console and one for RDP.

If you use the RDP Wrapper which I found here for just about every version of Windows: http://forums.mydigitallife.info

you can have multiple concurrent sessions. On my server, I have one user CQCUSER1 (separate Windows account, separate CQC account, limited user) that automatically boots up on the console. Whenever I want to do anything from an Admin Standpoint, I RDP into the server with a separate Windows account and CQC account, and the console remains running. I also have a separate RDP session for my phone with a separate Windows and CQC account, limited user, and for me it all works fine, except for one caveat ->

The PLAYIVWAV seems to get confused if you have more than one IV running, and even though I changed the ports in the command line, if two are up on the same computer, my experience anyway, is that it won't work - i.e. the Wav file doesn't play.

I think RDP can be considered a secure protocol. The newer versions are typically fully encrypted, things like the keyboard stream and authentication have always been encrypted. A quick google search doesn't really reveal any vulnerabilities that aren't MITM attacks or scares around people exposing systems without passwords etc.

are you guys really liking RDP? I find it to be awful. It boots into a desktop so I have to find the IV app and run it. Then I need to pull open the window to match the phone size. I don't see how this is that viable.

I haven't found where the taRiva logs are though, so it doesn't seem like I have any options here.

not easy, but you can run remote apps over RDP with the latest MS Remote Desktop app. it wont boot your desktop and instead directly opens your single app (IV viewer).

I set the logons that I use from each Kindle to run the IV Viewer with environment variables for logging into CQC. I run with the fullscreen switch. The default template for each user has been scaled to the device size.

how do you handle timeouts/sleep on the tablets? do you need to reopen the RDP app? i have my Win10 tablets, but also have 5 Fire tablets laying around from that 6 pack last year.

I just let the tablets sleep; It is a swipe left to get to the (still running) rdp app and a tap on the session icon (that is labeled) CQC. Not the ultimate but withstand-able. With the prices of Win10 tablets I'd go that route today for the added convenience.

i think i have my problems figured out. Too many different resolutions set in different places. Very first test seems fine but my desktop graphics card is shit, and maxes out at 1024x768. if I set android RDP to 1366x768, use desktop RDP on laptop to create screens (which allows the same), I can create a screen that seems to scale.

I think, anyhow. Lets see. This resolutions stuff is getting confusing.
