Curious About Usage Post Public Domain
#1
I am curious what the usage is on CQC is now.  The forum here has all but died of activity.  I can say that I use CQC every day, and I guess because of Dean's great work, I have very few problems anymore.  I am probably 99% done with what I want to do - of course you can always think of a thing or two you could change or fix.

I would say 80% of my activity is through the native Alexa interface NishanF posted, and the other 20% is through either two touchscreens or WebRiva interface.  My guess is that I access it via Alexa commands about 8 times a day, and through the touch screen 1-2 times a day.  I also have a good number of triggered and scheduled events as well.

If you're still active, I would be interested in your usage.  I would really hate to see CQC go away, but without any forum posts, I do worry about its future.

Regards,
Blake

I use heavily, mostly automation, but also my pc-touch screens 10x/day or more. I am not on the latest version. I hate fixing what isn't broken. My system is heavily integrated with Lutron (respond to button presses around the house, not to control lights from a screen). Also heavily integrated with HAI (hot water recirculation pumps, motorized windows, door locks and door open status, skylights, flood sensors and automated water shutoffs). Also heavily integrated with Tekmar (thermostat system). Security cameras display on main screen. Also integrated with Pentair (I have defined some functions that you can't do on the intellitouch directly).

Use CQC 90% of the time Alexa 10%. 6 ipads Wall mounted. At least 10X a day. Most use is Music(source room), Blinds up/down,  Weather forcast(and rardar map) on main screen and Visually check to see if the Front/Rear doors are locked. Pre-condition Tesla(unlike gas cars you can heat/cool a EV ahead of time in the garage with the door closed).  Occasunally like to see Irrigation screen when it is hot too see water history, etc.
I still like to arm the alarm system with the keypads although could do that through CQC.

I am relatively new to CQC and am worried that the lack of activity on the forums may scare some people away.  However, I have received prompt help when I have had questions, so I think it's just a perception.

I moved to CQC from Homeseer (probably 14 years using HS) because I grew tired of loss of support or deprecation in some of the plugins. My decision wasn't based on pricing, but rather that I finally had a little time to learn CQC. For CQC, I started with getting my lighting and events back up and then moved on to my thermostats.  It is important to me to be able to control these remotely and thus their priority.

My next foray is going to be into the area of home entertainment & integrating my AV equipment, SageTV, and media libraries.  Summer has slowed this down since we are not at our main home, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Next on the list will be my 1-wire network, then possibly irrigation.

CQC is used every day for me - but the loss of the old app in the iOS environment has been an issue for me. Yes, I know the web interface is there, but its not as good.

I need Alexa working. Didn't realise there was a native alexa interface - something to do again with CQC - otherwise I was going to use node red and its alexa interface

Whats missing from the web interface that you liked on the old app?. Would be nice to have a list for(if) future enhancments. Also bet it would be easy to create a "Wrapper" app to give you an app feel and put in the apple store.

There already is a wrapper in the iOS store, but I find trying to get the right size to fit the screen is always a chore, whereas the old app was simple, the graphics looked so much cleaner and smoother.

There is no one thing that is missing, I spent a bit of time initially with the creator of the iOS app and I think he nailed it in the end

Nice to see a poll/life on the forum!

Still Using the latest version Daily for a ton of things. My system hasn't changed a lot over the last few years but I do typically do 1 or 2 smallish projects, tweaks or additions a couple times per year. This year I finally connected our doorbell for events/actions via CQC which has been fun (different sounds) and helpful to have. We were away for 3 months and it kept the lawn growing nicely and sent me daily reports of various status items in the house!

I'd say maybe 40% of what it's doing is autonomous via scheduled/triggered events (Lighting, irrigation, reminders, HVAC), 40% interaction via 3 in wall touchscreens, 10% via RDP interface to full IV on phone/tablets and 10% using triggers from HTTP/Google Home.

I hope things will continue on even if at a much slower pace.  I plan to keep using CQC for a long time to come.  I do still check into the forums all though less frequently at present.  My next project I think may be hooking in some power monitoring.  I have wanted to do that for a long time but has always fallen down the list.  Not even sure if a person can get those coils/Brultech devices any longer that would work with CQC.

I've been using CQC since 2007. Most of my usage now is via scheduled and triggered alerts. It is incorporated with Zwave (through ELK) lighting and Insteon lighting via Isy-944I. My home theater movie room is 100% controlled through a touchpad and CQC.

I have concerns about the lack of activity on the forum here. But then I have to remind myself that even though I check in here often, rarely do I have a real reason to since it just works.

I do hope Dean is doing OK in his "after life".
Thanks
George M
