Device Class Index - Dean Roddey - 07-09-2014 This page just provides a sorted index of device classes, to make it easier to find the particular thread of interest. Finalized Classes These are the classes that are currently well defined and ready to use in device drivers:
AIO Audio AVProcessor ClrLighting ContactClosure DeviceInfo DIO Lighting Lock MediaRenderer MediaRepository MediaTransport MotionSensor NowPlaying Power Projector Relay ResourceMonitor SceneCtrl Security Simulator Stereo Switcher Thermostat Tuner TV Weather
Not Quite Finalized Classes These are defined, but haven't really been put to the test yet, so comments are welcome. It would be nice to define them as well as possible before they get into use. Undefined/Maybe Unneeded Classes These are still being discussed or haven't even been defined yet. Please comment on these if you have any expertise in these particular device types. Some of these may ultimately be deemed unnecessary, since any device of that type will just be a combination of other device classes. What we are interested in is that functionality that will be very widely supportable within the devices that support that type of feature. It's useless to define a device class that only 5% of devices could actually support meaningfully. So it's not about maximum functionality, but maximum consistency, so that user logic and interfaces can depend on the functionality defined. It's in play now in the Brultech GEM driver and sees to be appropriate for those types of devices. |
