Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - IVB - 07-27-2013 As per my other thread, I'm in the market for an HDMI switching receiver. The NR1604 is a current model and seems to hit all the buzzwords (4K is the big one). Its IP control, but I'm at a loss trying to find the protocol (and hence see if its physically possible to hire someone to write a driver). What would I search for? It should be out there, remotecentral shows people controlling via C4. Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - IVB - 07-27-2013 although, now i'm wondering if the 70wpc is going to be an issue. The SR5008 is $900 vs $650, but is 200wpc. Ugh. Thank god I only do this once every 5-8 years. Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - standon - 07-28-2013 It's probably the same protocol as the previous model, the NR1602. Marantz is pretty good about publishing all their IR and protocols... You could try sending the commands from the 1602. Here's the excel document of protocol which seems to have the same commands for the AV7005, SR7005, SR6006, SR6005, SR5006 and NR1602. So you could potentially use the existing driver (not sure which models it covers) Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - Dean Roddey - 07-28-2013 We have the 7005, so it would probably require a slight variation on that driver to get the correct list of inputs and modes. Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - ellisr63 - 07-28-2013 Since Denon and Marantz are owned by the same company and use the same parts on some of the models... Are the drivers the same? Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - IVB - 07-28-2013 IVB upsell in full effect, now i'm contemplating the SR6008 at $1200 since it has 2 HDMI out. I'm jonesing for a projector/130" screen in the living room, in conjunction with the plasma. PJ for movies, plasma for TV. I am so damn predictable its not funny. Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - Dean Roddey - 07-28-2013 The format of the protocol is the same for all of them, but the values available in many of the commands are different. Check out... http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/category/AVReceiver/Home-Audio/Home-Theater-Receivers/1.html for a Refurbished AVR (they are authorised and come with a full warranty). You might also want to contact Craig at AVS for a deal on a new one as I have heard he is selling the new Denon 4520 for the same or less than the refurbished one. You need to up your Jonesing if you want to catch me... I am running 134" and will be moving up to 150" this winter. I just picked up the BenQ w1070 for under $900 and it is #$%^ bright, plus the bulbs last twice as long as my Epson did! The Marantz 7005 is only $849.99 from the above link. CEDIA (I think it was there,I was reading the integrator's mag I get from them) just had a viewing contest (both joe consumer and pro installer participated) and Plasma won hands down, in particular a Sammy took top honors. Should be able to google to find. -Ben Hunting down Marantz NR1604 protocol - IVB - 07-29-2013 batwater Wrote:CEDIA (I think it was there,I was reading the integrator's mag I get from them) just had a viewing contest (both joe consumer and pro installer participated) and Plasma won hands down, in particular a Sammy took top honors. Why compete when you can have both for twice the price :-) |
