anyone have any experience with the
wiznet WIZ110SR?
other than having a funny name, seems like a relatively cheap solution for when you need a single TCP->serial server, but you don't need all the fancy features of a GC device...
fairly cheap at $28 + 5V power supply...
be cooler if it did PoE...
their slave mode is interesting, you can set it up so that it automatically tries to connect to your server... not sure how CQC would like a TCP device trying to initiate the connection, pretty sure CQC wants to be in charge of that... but still nice to have options I guess?
Does it just pass through any data it receives? If so, you could treat it like a GC-100 serial port from CQC's point of view, well other than we'd have to let you select a port which we now assume.
from the user docs, (which aren't very good btw) it does seem it is a simple pass through...
also it seems, at least if you set it as a static IP that you can set the port... and thier example has it as port 5000, thats the same as the GC's if I remember correctly...
so should work... and $28 isn't so bad...
might be a good solution for one of those off in a corner with only enet wired close type scenarios...
5000 and 5001 are the two GC ports.
So it is a cheap alternative to a GC? Do you think it can be used as one?
There goes another good idea - postage is more than the product AGAIN!!!!

how so? shipping is only $3 AU?
http://core-electronics.com.au/wiznet-se...110sr.html
but daaaammmnnnn you Aussie's really must enjoy paying way too much for stuff... $56?!?!

hock: wow...
cheapest I have found it here is $25.12+ $6 shipping...
I guess you Aussie's do have much cheaper shipping, so that's nice... doesn't really make up for the $56AU thing though
although, I guess $56au is ~ $42us, so that's not too bad I guess....
but I still stand by my

hock:
fwiw, since it is only ~$31us shipped, I ordered one just to try...
well, it seems to work ok...
cant figure out how to get CQC to do its TCP -> Serial thing though... if you tell CQC it is a GC100, it tries to get the GC - config from the Wiz110sr, and oddly enough, since it isn't really a GC100, it doesn't have one... so I am kind of stuck on the CQC side of things...
is there anyway to get CQC to launchjust the GC fake serial port without loading the whole GC driver?
