I'll fix the post; I must have messed it up when I uploaded V1.5

OK, that works now, thanks!
Mark Stega Wrote:So if you aren't on version 6 of WM I'd suggest using 1.4B1; I've posted 1.5B1 for anyone on WM 6.

I was able to get the 1.5B1 working (sort of) on my phone, but it is MUCH slower than RDP of the regular IV (feels orders of magnitude slower) over 3G and also significantly slower over wifi.

During a recent test on 3G, I timed about a 15 sec delay for switching templates and about that for a checkbox widget to change state when I pressed it to turn on a light. After a few trys it seemed to get frozen for at least a minute and then came back and had a long delay before it froze again.

I closed the RIVA client and then connected (still over 3G) using RDP and the same actions took maybe a second.
The URL in the CQC Supplemental Release Notes documentation throws an error when clicked on...
  • Get and install the CQC .Net Desktop Viewer. Go to here to download the installation package. Install this package on the destination desktop system by unzipping the installation package, which will extract a "Setup.Exe", an MSI file, and a CAB file. Run the "Setup.Exe" to install the viewer.

I am presuming that the folder RIVA.NetClientFF in the zip listed at the beginning of the thread is the full client for desktop, please confirm.

Thanks

I was wondering if the .Net RIVA client will be updated so as to support the improvements in the V2 protocol, such as the web image and progress bar widget and the image caching?

I wonder if any of the V2 changes will help with the slowness of the RIVA client WRT the RDP client over the same connection?

It will not be updated as it uses the simple protocol which is unchanged. I suspect that the server can now support at least the web image widget.
I am playing a bit with the source and found a bug in MessageEngine.cs, line 287, it should be:

"Address: " + ipaddress.ToString()

since address itself is null...
For MessagePacket.AppendString, line 276 has:

// Copy the 4 byte character count to the buffer

Yet on page 7 of the RemoteViewerProtocol_3_4.pdf it says to use a 2 byte character count for the text...
Thanks for pointing those out. Hopefully Mark can get those tweaked.
Actually, the second one is a documentation error already reported in the official RIVA thread... Wink
