I've been reading up on temp sensors in the forums (such as the HAI 23A001, Aprilaire 8051, or VK011) and had a question on them that I haven't seen an answer for.

Namely, are all of these able to monitor temperatures in several locations and then send that information back to the thermostat and/or Elk and use the different temp readings to adjust the temperature? If this is possible, how does one go about setting it up?

Thanks.

The Aprilaire ones can be used to average out the current temp, so the furnace is on/off based on comparing the SetPoint to current.

For others, what I had done was if the temp fell below a certain threshold in my "controlling" room, then CQC would increase the HeatSetPoint by 3degrees, until the temp in that "controlling" room was back at a threshold. I was wisely guided that I didn't want to have an exact match, rather a tolerance would be best, to avoid excessive set-adjustments.

So were you only able to gauge that threshold off of the temperature from one room? Or were you able to average the temps based off of readings in several areas?
Given that they're hooked into CQC, I can do whatever I want. I didn't have a need to do that, so i haven't tried that specifically.
I am working on a solution now that will allow you to connect as many Temp Sensors to CQC as you could dream of. The Sensors are also flush mount and paintable. I will have more details in a week or two.
I'm assuming that you have (or will have) a thermostat that will interface w/ CQC. Give this, you could clearly do that w/ the VK011s and a scheduled event to calculate the desired temperature based on what all the sensors are doing. The nice thing is that if CQC stops talking to the thermostat, things continue to work as they were last left.
