I just found this switch in a message from Amazon...
https://www.amazon.com/Martin-Jerry-Comp...p_pep_ld_t
Looks like it is pretty inexpesive, and controlled via wifi with Alexa or Google. I wonder if this would be a good inexpensive option to integrate with CQC?

I would suggest you contact martin jerry and ask them if they have any API doc for their switch, dimmer and smart plug. They have app app so it is theoretically possible, just depends on how simple they made it for outside control.

Or if they expose it at all. Some don't, keeping it for their own use. Personally, I'd shy away from wifi based stuff.

CQC can control Alexa, correct...if so then wouldn't we be able to control it via CQC controlling Alexa?

It doesn't work like that.

There is no reason to shy away from WiFi stuff. Shying away from manufacturers that do not want to expose their control at all is a different story and it is extremely frustrating. Some seem to think it is giving away the keys to the house by doing so and keeping tight lipped about it is protecting them selves. To me they do more harm than good to both them and the industry.
They should all just include MQTT as an additional option

I was looking at the MQTT stuff too, but I ended up finding some Zwave stuff that would integrate with my ISY994i... I wish the ISY would communicate with the MQTT stuff too.
