insteon vs. UPB for primarily lighting
#11
it looks like their warranty is 2 years, so hopefully that equates to a quality improvement. or it means they fully understand their QA limitations and this is how they make up for it. :-)

1. i'm going on amazon right now and getting some of those. Wago s.

2. I have UPB. Its relatively reliable. I'd say like 90ish percent and I haven't tried to debug UPB comm issues, only CQC and neighbor related problems.

Well, maybe threatening to go insteon spooked my upb. It's been solid for the past week, though I haven't touched the media room in a month though. I did have two sunset timed events recently and shifted one. That seemed to solve the upb failure rate issue. Maybe this weekend I can delve into the media room issues.

My upb used to be rock solid; like 99%+.

Dean, in answer to your question, the switches themselves never failed to work from the wall, the driver would hang and require a PC reboot. I still thing it has I got to do with the Oppoo driver, but am not certain. Weird monkeys. I have a few days off and if I don't choose to catch up on some consulting work, I'll see if I can recreate the issue and debug scenarios that cause it.

BTW, not opposed to throwing 'some' money at the problem if guaranteed a solution. But there's the rub. Smile

If you can get it into that state and let me get into the system to poke around, I can try to get a feel for what's going on, though I'll be a bit limited doing it remotely.
