Amazon Echo to CQC
#1
This sounds really cool - and with the HTTP driver, I bet it would work with CQC.

More here.

IVB might want to check this out. Smile

i put in a request-for-invitation a week ago, not sure if i'll buy without positive affirmation I can call a custom URL on a voice command (ie, bedroom light on must call http://192.168.1.123:11015/CMLBin/User/NFC?Cmd=HELLO ).

Alexa can you turn off the lights? ..... ALEXA! Can you turn off the lights?... lights go down no response... yeah that would get old quick.

But soon this will be a reality!

I just wish they would release the protocol for it. I would really like to know the capabilities.

I have been considering Sonos for whole house audio, but I would much rather have something that does VR and is a speaker.

Dean wrote it after I did the macro. Forgot it existed until this post.

hah, and IVB's post has me thinking about the opposite, going back to the web server... Smile It supports SSL and gives you a lot more control over the parameters.

Right now I have two HTTP drivers running, one only accepts commands on my Wifi. I am not comfortable opening up commands that can do things like disable my security system unencrypted. SSL and some sort of auth parameters would make things a lot more secure, might allow me to avoid the "wait for connecting to my wifi" delay for some use cases.

oh man, the HTTP trigger is the best thing since sliced bread!

you can do quite a bit - put a safari shortcut right on your iPhone screen to do various actions, it provides a 'standard' of sort that can be used by other devices like Echo (via a hack) or Tasker or IFTTT or GeoFancy etc...

you don't have to open up your security system to it, and instead keep your regular CQC website for that. I think the HTTP trigger is one of the most useful new features that I have seen with CQC.

Oh that does sound cool. Today is about house repair projects but maybe tonight I'll look.
