iPhone 6 Plus Resolution
#1
I'm confused. The published resolution for the iPhone 6+ is 1920x1080, but if I create a Template and try to display it on the RIVA client it is maybe half of that. (9XX x 5XX)

Can anyone shed some light on this?

After a little more testing, I have the same problem with the standard iPhone 6. They both are displaying at 1136x640.

At first I thought this was a limitation of the RIVA client software, but the guide says it can accommodate up to almost 5M pixels. I'm only at about 727K.

Both are set to high res.

In the template editor when you do a right mouse on the template background and select Set Size what does it indicate for the height and width for the template you are loading on your iPhone?

That's how I determined the actual size. I adjusted until it was off screen. The size ended up at 1136x640.

Any chance someone with an iPhone 6 or 6+ could test this to see if they have the same issue? 1136x640 is the iphone 5 resolutions and the app page says optimized for iPhone 5 so maybe it is stuck on that resolution for some reason. Waste to have a huge phone and not be able to utilize the full resolution.

Do you have High Resolution on in the RIVA app? (opt tab)

If its not on then it uses a lower res to be "more compatible" with existing graphics etc. If its on, those buttons you use will be tiny on the screen.

When on the template I use fills about a quarter of the screen, when off its full width but only 4S high (was written for the 4S screen ratio and the 6 is longer/higher/taller).

I would suspect that you have yours off.

I will try and check over the weekend what res I get on the 6 with high res on.

I get 1136 x 640 as well for the 6 as well.

Where are the lost pixels? Has apple duped us?

yeah, it's not working at 1920x1080 in any form.

i have noticed that on the 6 +, a lot of the apps have not been updated yet, and are enlarged to fill the screen.

it looks like this is what is happening with the CQC app. Not sure who controls this, but it should go to the top of a priority list somewhere.

I have size limits in the program, because larger canvas sizes used to cause the program to use too much memory and get killed by the OS. But perhaps the newer devices have more memory and are more tolerant. I can experiment, but I need a CQC system to test on, because I don't have one at the moment. Can anyone provide a test system with a large canvas? I will fire up the debugger and see what happens.

Once I identify the problem (assuming there is one, which there probably is), Apple now supports external beta testers, so if someone has an iPhone 6, we could try to get a modified version of the app into their hands to see if it runs properly without memory-related app terminations.
