Bluray Collection Management
#1
I'm specifically looking for a mechanism/software to manage my collection of Blurays but this could also be used for music obviously. I'd essentially like a software or online solution for cataloging my growing library of Blurays. Does anyone have some solutions to recommend? This is somewhat separate from CQC but I'm asking here first in case I can also utilize something that I could configure to work with CQC. Thanks.

DVDProfiler is one and it is free, plus the database created works with CQC.

Thanks for the recommendation of DVD Profiler. I saw other mention of it but didn't feel good that it hasn't been updated in 1.5 years. Can you speak to the CQC integration?

I used to use it when I had my DVD changers... It was real simple with changers. All you had to do was input the disc location and then export the xml for it and CQC would control the changer manager. I have not tried control now as I am running everything off of a NAS and I am starting from scratch again as I lost my whole setup while I was away from CQC.

I use DVD Profiler for all of my DVDs (still in changers) and for the ripped BluRays. Disc locations for the DVDs are S1.123 & S2.456 format, that of rips is \\NAS\blu-ray-title. CQC integration is via the exported DVDP database. No issues even though DVDP is 18 months old.

also, fwiw, MyMovies (free to paid... depending on what features you want...) has a pretty good 'collections manager' module...

unfortunately, MyMovies does tend to get updated regularly, and those updates occasionally break CQC/sage integration for me... well until CQC/Sage get updated...

anyway, just throwing out another option...

Another option is our repository, with the My Movies online metadata source enabled. It's not nearly as fancy in and of itself, since it's purely intended to support CQC, but it's more integrated (changes are immediately available, you don't have to do an "export from source/import to CQC" type cycle.) If you purchase MMs, you can get access to their online metadata DB, and our repo manager can access that. You don't need to actually use MMs if you use our repo, it's just to get access to the metadata.

I second mymovies collection management. It is probably the quickest to update their metadata and if you don't plan on ripping the discs you just set them to offline. As a bonus it integrates well with CQC if you can get the driver working.

I use MyMovies and I don't update it. The first time it broke stuff I rolled back and never screwed with it again.
