4.2 Beta Discussion Thread

these are all I have as far as I know:oops:
CQC-MS (Master Server) = Version 4.1.901
CQC-MMS (SageTV server) = Version 4.1.901
BOB (desktop) = Version 4.1.901
these top 2 I RDP'ed into and started up the AI went to help/about and copy/pasted the version...
and for my desk top I did mostly the same, just no RDP...

there is also a Samsung Q1, but he is off/powered down right now... but he should be Version 4.1.901 also... but he does have a shortcut that may need redoing...
none of the top 3 PC's have any CQC short cuts...

What OS versions are these running? Is maybe the one where you are trying to load the UPnP driver an XP box or something?

BTW, just as a sanity check, it might be worth enabling IPV6 to see if it does better. And it would be useful to get a dump of the interfaces on the problem machine, which you can do by opening a command prompt and going:

ipconfig /All > ipc.txt

and posting the results of that ipc.txt file.

Another thing to consider is whether you have the UPnP service turned off in the OS. Presumably the UPnP support I use depends on that and may fail if it's not running.

CQC-MS (Master Server) = XP SP3 (this is where all the drivers are)
CQC-MMS (SageTV server) = WIN 7 Pro 64 oem (not sure why I have CQC running here... just seemed like a good idea at the time...)
BOB (desktop) = Win 7 Home Premium SP1 64 (mostly used for creating IE's/playing)

Q1 = whatever XPe/light came on it... never been updated I don't think...

emailed you the IPC's

loaded the diver on one of the win7 boxes (CQC-MMS/sage server) and well, it didn't crash and burn at least...
but lots 'o red in the log... finally did load though... well I think it loaded...

clicked the 'show upnp devices' tab in network neighborhood on the master server, and stuff showed up (no sonos, but isy and my router showed up...) so I am guessing upnp is enabled...

so tried loading a sonos driver on my MS again, and poof, everything is gone again...

the errors seem to all be about it is having trouble communicating with 192.168.1.81... but that is my Master Server, I am RDP'ed into my master server, I am doing everything on my master server... it seems it cant talk to itself? why cant it talk to itself while I can?

You've got some sort fundamental issue here, but I'm not sure what. Let's simpify things here. Stop the CQC service on all of the machines. Put back the last backup on the master server and do the install just on the master server.

Once you get the master server up, open a CQC Command Prompt and do:

CQCNetTest > Nt.txt

and post the results of that NT.txt file.

It looks like from what you sent me that your Bob machine is doing the stupid thing of adding your ISP's domain suffix, but we need to see the output of the net test to tell. I did some things that hopefully would prevent that from being picked up, but let's see. Bob also has IPV6 enabled (and preferred) while the other two don't have it. I don't think that would cause a problem though.

But anyway, let's start with the master server.

also, this may seem like a silly question, but how does one go about enabling ipv6 on xp or win 7 for that matter?
and why would 1 machine have it enabled by default, and the other 2 not?

and what exactly does ipv6 get you other than more addresses?

On Win7 it will probably be installed and made the preferred mode by default, I think. But you do it in the TCP/IP setttings for the network card. There will be one option for IPV4 and one for IPV6.

So control panel -> network and sharing -> manage network connections. Right click on the network card and select properties. In there you would use the Install button to add IPV4 if it's not in there already.
