Writing to an external file from trigger event
The reason for the \\ is that \ is an escapement mechanism in CML, as it is in various other languages. So, to get an actual \ you have to double it up as \\. The first one says "take this next character literally, even though it's a special character."

Maybe a symbolic link  Google how to create one - its a command done from teh command line symlink - I use it with onedrive for linking other folders outside of the onedrive folder and works fine.

I had not thought of using it with CQC myself until reqding this and I have pondered this issue before as well.  Problem I find is that files in the macrofilroot folder need elevated admin rights to modify which is a PITA.  I might look at symlinks as a way to ease the pain.
