Squintz Web Server

The code is in text format: squintz.txt

I have been working on my personal CQC web site and figured I would post some screen shots, a link and some code here for all of you to look at. I have been doing this site about 30 minutes a day for about a week while learning as I go. The actually process to create a site like this is not very hard. In fact its pretty easy. I first created a layout in Dreamweaver and then copied an pasted the HTML into the CQC Macro Workshop. I had to change all of the double quotes in the attributes into single quotes for it to compile. Then I just use the CML language to create a TextOutStream with all of the HTML and added some addition CML code to fill in the data and images and WAH-LA! I have the start of a decent working web site.

So far I am only displaying data and dynamically generating the pages. I have not added any control of my house since I have not yet looked into how to manage the security side of that. It should be pretty easy but my BetaBrite sign just showed up and I want to play with creating a driver for that for a while. Maybe when all is done you could leave me messages on my betabrite LED sign from my guest site. Now that would be fun.

So here is the home page:

And here is the weather page:

Oh BTW Ripper I did not forget about our plans to make a reusable template for others. I just wanted to get some practice coding first before I tackle something larger. I am turning my attention away from the web server for now and working on my betabrite driver.

It is for now and probably a few days. I copied and pasted it right into notpad and clicked save. No changes were made to the code.

If you are reading through the code you will notice 4 private methods which are used to generate some of the HTML. I created these methods just to help me keep the main part of the code smaller and easier to read. mod_ContentsBox() is the outline for the main body boxes. I call this method from several places. then you have mod_RightColBox which generated the CallerID box on the right side of the page and then mod_CurrentWeather and mod_WeatherForcast() which is a typo that I just noticed use the mod_ContentsBox to actually display the data. So I am jumping around a little bit in my code. If you get confused let me know.

Ripper,

I have been admiring all your CQC templates. They look great. I just purchased the CQC software and looking for some awesome 800x600 CQC templates as a starting point. I noticed all your templates are designed to work for a screen size of 1024x768. Have you built any templates for a 800x600 screen?

At this time I haven't yet anything for 800x600 because my touchscreens are 15"..I am working on a new set of templates that should be finished in another couple of weeks but once again they are 1024x768 :-(

In the future I hope to make more in 800x600 and 800x480..the main problem has been not having a screen that small to test with and ensure that buttons can be easily pressed...I design most stuff on a 30" monitor so its hard to judge size without a monitor that is smaller
