Jandy Pool Control

I was running the Jandy RS - Serial Adapter and I think it got zapped or just died.
CQC was working great before it died.

My brother inlaw got a new pool and his has the Jandy / Zodial iQ20-RS
It links the Jandy RS system to the web and uses their phone apps

The Serial Adapter is making me a little nervous.  I have read a couple of posts online that they are pretty easily killed by power surges.
And at $400+ a piece I don't want to have to buy these things in bulk Smile

Before I replace the Serial Adapter I was curious if we could get a CQC driver to control the iQ20

Do you know if they expose the API? These days more and more it seems like companies are more interested in their own apps, and with making everything go through their own servers, than with integration. If it works remotely, and you don't have to forward any ports, then most likely it's some sort of stupid cloud based thing.

On poking around more I found this product that can work in place of the Jandy 7620 Serial Adapter.

Has anybody used this before?  They have exposed the API and it connects to the network vs RS232.

It is $250 vs $450.  I have given Jandy enough of my cash.  Smile

So it's supposed to expose the same API as the Jandy one, right? And should be a drop in replacement?

I think it is different than the Jandy.

It connects the Jandy 4 wire from the Jandy panel and then connects by RJ45 to the network and uses HTTP GET commands.

You might consider this:

They repair it for $150.  I used them last time mine got hit by lightning, and it is still working fine, 3+ years later.

Knocking on wood, but once I eliminated the 4 button spa switch which was installed by the spa, I have not had any issues since this eliminated direct communication from the outside to the Jandy controller.  Prior to that, I had it blow 3 times.

They also make an optical isolator for the RS-485 wire that might help - I bought one from B&B Electronics, but have never installed it.  (On the to do list :-) )

I called and Bob was very nice and seems to know his stuff.  That is the way I am going to go.
$150 without any new programming keeps it simple.  Thanks!!!

OK I got my box back from BP Engineering and was hoping for a quick fix (Plug back in and walk away).
But it keeps disconnecting.

It will say Connected to Device and all will work fine for about 20 seconds, then:

Waiting for Com Resource
Not Loaded
Connected to device

I restarted the CQC server, deleted and reinstalled the driver, verified the port settings & tried another Comm port

I am using the RS Dev 2.2 driver.  I remember needing to use a DriverPack before.  Is this that driver?

Any ideas?

I'm not sure when someone made that. It would be one that someone else modified. The shipped version is 1.3. It's probably not happy with something it's seeing, but it's not logging anything useful to let us know. Can you try 1.3 just for funzies and see if it does better? If so, I can look at what the differences are and try to get whatever was added over to the shipped version. Else you might have to open it up for me so that I can see what is going on, and put in some better logging for the future.

I tried the 1.3. It stayed connected longer but was missing some of the fields I needed. 

Is this the logs that you need?
