As these templates do not work with the latest version of CQC, I was wondering if anyone has an unpacked version of the DataServer folder they could zip up and send me?
Thanks Karen Edited: Never mind, I downloaded an old version of CQC and managed to unpack the templates with that. Last edited by karenlee : 12-16-2012 at 06:45 AM. |

Karen,
I was looking at these great templates, and didn't realize how old they were until you posted your comment about them not working with the newer versions of CQC. Any chance you could make a template pack of them (With Pano's permission of course) and post them up to save the rest of us the trouble of repeating your download/install/unpack/import process? Thanks, Russ

Hi Russ I can't make templates packs because it still stands that they are no longer compatible with CQC. What I did was install an old version of QCQ on a different computer, and I loaded up the templates on that version so that I could see how a couple of things had been done. I didn't import anything into my own template set - I am actually using the template set provided by Vidabox, and which are very good (but hard work as the functionality has to be guessed and then backward engineered). Just curious. If you loaded older template on old version of cqc and then upgraded that version couldnt you then make a pack compatable with the new version?

In theory it would, but you might have to go through multiple upgrades. See the release notes. I think any pre-3.0 have to go to a 3.x version before it can go to a 4.x version.
It's possible something really old still wouldn't quite work, if there was something broken that got fixed the old stuff depended on the broken behavior. Probably not, but it could happen possibly.

The interface also uses many global variables. You will need to figure those out manually which is a huge PIA or locate the variables import that was posted here someplace years ago. Without your global variables list matching the interface, it will not open.

The other thing is, there are probably way better ways to do the things it does now. Back when those were done, the system was a lot less powerful than it is now. Presumably Dave means Variables driver fields, which at the time were kind of a requirement, but now there are global variable based widgets that can typically make that kind of complication unnecessary.

Dean said it far more eloquently than I. Variable Driver fields is what I was referring to, and yes, the product has moved much further along from when these screens were designed.
