Mine just arrived. I've installed it and it connects fine with CQC. I've got a Harmony one, which works great with my sage and denon 3805 and direct TV setups independent of CQC. I now want to include the HP/compaq 5720 with the USB-UIRT into the Harmony One mix.
The 5720 connects to the USB-UIRT, the Denon 3805 and the Pioneer Plasma TV. All but the 5720 are already devices on the Harmony One. I want to make the 5720 a device so that I can include it in Harmony activities, primarily to play music via the Denon. This all works fine via CQC currently via a touch screen. Filetagbrowser and the CQC audio driver I'd also like to display the CQC templates on the TV and manipulate them via the buttions on the Harmony. So the question is, what device should I define the 5720. Is there a device known to the Harmony that exists in the CQC IR codes that has the buttons I need already programmed that won't conflict with the devices I already have? Is this the way to go about it, or do I need to define a custom device? |

By 5720, you are referring to a t5720 thin client, correct? If so, I'd choose Some DVD player (or perhaps DVD/VCR combo) as your t5720 device. They would have the transport, volume, arrow, perhaps even channel buttons that you would need.
That being said, there are a few of us that take a different approach to using the remote. Instead of programming the remote with all the different IR devices, just have the remote use 1 set of IR codes for all the devices that CQC can control. So the remote sends out the same play command whether you are listening to a CD or watching a movie. Then in the USB-UIRT receiver actions for the Play button, you use some If logic to determine which device is being used. Then you send the play transport command to that device only. The set up is more time consuming, but the remote ends up staying in sync with the devices. In other words, pressing play on the remote won't start a DVD because that is what the remote was set to, but you really wanted to start a CD, etc, etc, etc. There is no right or wrong way of doing this, but I thought I would share another concept with you.

Thx Brian - t5720 it is. I can see the advantage of that - cheaper controller. However, the Harmony One allows for a lot of programming, so if I can describe the t5720 correctly, that may be my easier route.
Thanks again! |

Well to control the t5720, you'll really use the Interface Viewer Driver. This will allow you to send command to move the focus, change templates, press buttons, etc on the IV.
So just pick any old IR device on the Harmony. Then in the USB-UIRT receiver codes for that IR device, program the applicable actions. So if you use a Emerson DVD player as the t5720 IR device, go into the IR receiver code and for the "Left" button, make sure you change the action to write to the InterfaceViewer Driver's command field "left". Hopefully that makes sense. You have to enable the IV control port when you install the IV on the t5720. If you are unsure if you did that, then reinstall CQC on the t5720 and choose "Fully Custom Installation" there should be a check box to enable the IV Control port. You'll also need to add a /Port=XXXXXX parameter in the IV startup command line. Then you have to load the IV Driver on the t5720 using the Admin Interface as well.
