Control Internet TVs with ethernet port

Has anyone tried to control any of the internet TVs using the ethernet connection? There are iPhone apps for LG and Samsung, I think. So the protocols might be available. Thanks.

Samsung can be controlled and I think there is a driver.

The LG has not been looked at yet as far as I know, but going by LG's reputation for external control, I am hopeful that they have implemented the same protocol over Ethernet as well.

Philips can also be controlled.

Mind, however, that none of them support power on through ethernet.

What about the Panasonic range of TV's. I have access to a new 3D Ethernet enabled Plasma.
