View Full Version : Another ZP problem

I run three copies of ZP on my MS.
All have their own port, and run multi copies ticked. One copy also has the reg file.
I have actions on the onload for my music (uses two) and my movies (uses one) to open them up.
All works well, for a while. Then each copy of ZP seems to lose its settings, and returns to default. I have to not only set the port details, but also the dvd decoders.
I have put all the settings back, all works, and then it all happens again.
I appricate that this is probably more a question for the ZP boards, but I thought I would start here first.
Thanks.
I had a similar issue, but it went away when I checked the "save info in a local file" or something like that.

im pretty sure you need a reg file for every copy of zp that you have open concurrently. try to add another reg file and see if that helps.
i ran 3 copies with no issues before moving to slimserver. it worked fine for me.

All the info I have in the zplayer.regpath is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player2
which is the name of the directory. i will add the file, with changes, to the other two instances.
simon

I have done all that okay.
The three instances open up as they should.
However, if I go back into, say, the music page, the onload to load the zp works even though there are already the correct two instances open, and it opens another two.
Help!
Okay, panic over, I think.
If Devices::DriverIsReady(sample-zoomplayer)
Else
System::StartRemApp(dmp, d:\program files\zoom player\..., /m, )
End
This seems to check if the instance is already running, and wont open it if already open.
Seems to work so far...

It shouldn't open the same instance even if you were to ask it. If I have a button that starts the ZP I can click it a dozen times and it will only open one instance. You have to change the settings in the reg file and if you use notepad it will give it the extension .txt which is not correct. It needs the Regpath extension and one in every ZP folder.
Under options - advanced - settings uncheck allow multiple instances
Under options - advanced - Values/tools check enable tcp control and give each one a different port #
Regpath file in each ZP directory make sure it has the regpath extension ie Zplayer.Regpath not Zplayer.Regpath.txt
for ZP1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player1
ZPONE
For ZP2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player2
ZPTWO
For ZP3
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player3
ZPTHREE

Thank you.
I have followed those instructions and all seems to be working as it should; I thought it was strange that it was opening up more instances.
Lets just hope it keeps on working!

I tell a lie.
Its the allow multiple instance check box thats causing the problem.
If I leave it unchecked, the movie (1 instance) works as it should. But the music template wont load the two instances.
If i put the tick back, they open as they should, but will keep opening every time the page is open.
Very strange.

I am also running the multiple instances as I have 4 ZP folders and I asssigned each one an address (I basically added # 1-4 to the end of the address to make it easy to remember). but I have found that when I select a album to listen to everything is fine.... but if I hit stop and then select another album it opens up another instance of ZP :-(

Something is not setup right. I have 6 instances of zoomplayer and they do not function that way. Do you have drivers for every instance of zoom player? and do they point to the right folder?
You do not have to have multiple instances checked if it's setup properly. If it won't remember the settings then thats probably because the regpath file is not saved correctly (most likely got the txt extension or association)
Here is what I did
1.) Start with one original working zoom player
2.) copied 6 times into other similar named folders ie zoom player 1 zoom player 2 ect ect
3.) edit each regpath file to read....
for ZP1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player1
ZPONE
For ZP2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player2
ZPTWO
For ZP3
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player3
ZPTHREE
4.) Load 6 drivers for zoom player named zp1 to zp6 point each driver to the different zoomplayer folder exe file and tcp address.
5.) enable tcp control disable multiple instances
If you write a playtitle field to zp1 for music you need to write to zp2 for movies. I think IVB has a how to file I wrote with pics.

Thats how I thought I had it setup.
Guess I will have to go back to the begining, remove it all and add it all again.
Oh well, its cold and foggy outside, shame I've got people over else I would do it now.

I don't think you have to delete the files and start over. Test this out.
Go to the zoomplayer 1 folder and start zoomplayer open options and disable allow multiple instances and allow tcp control. write the port # down.
now go to zoomplayer 2 folder and do the same give this one a different port # though.
close both of them the restart both of them and check the settings. If the port# are what you made them and not the same then your regpath file is ok. If not thats your problem to start or at least one of them.
Let me know if that works and we can go from there.

Hi John,
Have done, and it rememebers the port number.
However, I cannot have both open at the same time.
Thanks for taking the time to help with this.
What error does it throw?
simon
12-22-2006, 07:05 AM
It doesnt through an error, I just cannt open two instances unless I have the multi check box ticked.

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to help with this.
So if you browse to the zoom player 1 file and click the exe file and open zp1 then browse to the zoom player 2 folder and click that zp exe file and it won't let you open it?
Are the options of the two zoomplayers different (port # wise)? Is the regpath file in each folder different? and if you click properties of the regpath file does it say it's a regpath file or txt file?
(You may have to check allow multiple settings first to be able to change the port #'s and settings on the second ZP then uncheck allow multiple instances)
I just double checked and all 6 six of mine do not have allow multiple instances checked

Correct, I have just tried again.

Yes, both ports are different, I have checked in the zplayer.regpath. Its not a txt file, have checked many times.
The two directories are called zoomplayer and zoomplayer1. Each has a different regpath file:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player
ZPONE
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player1
ZPTWO
I was going to download version 5 and re-install it all, but it looks like there are problems with the new version acording to that other post.

That doesn't click with anything I have seen. Email me your regpath file if you don't mind (both of them you will need to rename one of them) Just so I can rule this out. Are you using pro? ( I don't thing this will matter)

Ron, Are you going to start spamming me now? JK
Simon,
I got your files and I am posting here incase anyone else has this problem but your Regpath files are incorrect.
This is what you have!
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirtualMedia\Zoom Player
ZPONE
It should be VIRTUAMEDIA not VIRTUAL and in the form like this
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERO NE
ZPONE
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERT WO
ZPTWO
EDIT * There is no space between ZOOMPLAYERONE but it's showing one for some reason.

Thanks John,
But to check:
VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERO NE: I thought this was the name of the directory.
My zp directories are zoomplayer, zoomplayer1, zoomplayer2.
Should I just change it all over to your naming scheme?
jpants
01-05-2007, 07:57 AM
I would, mine are named similar and it has no ill effect. My folders are named
Zoom Player 1
Zoom Player 2
Zoom Player 3
Zoom Player 4
ect. ect.
and mine works fine.

Okay, I have now two folders, called Zoom Player One and Zoom Player Two.
Inside each regpath file it reads:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VIRTUAMEDIA\Zoom Player One
ZPONE
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VIRTUAMEDIA\Zoom Player Two
ZPTWO
And I still cannt get two to open at once!
jpants

Simon,
Make your Regpath file EXACTLY Like this all in caps reguardless of the name of your Zoom player folder...(to make sure it's not the regpath file)
Zoom Player 1 folder
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERO NE
ZPONE
and...
Zoom Player 2 folder
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERT WO
ZPTWO
If that doesn't work remove and reinstall just one original zoomplayer, change that regpath file to the first one above, then copy that whole folder into another folder and edit the second regpath file to the second one listed above. You will also need to uncheck allow multiple instances and allow TCP/IP control and change the port numbers.

Madness.
I tried changing it all to caps, still didnt work.
So I downloaded ZP5, got one working, copied it, changed the settings, and still cannt get two to work!
Any chance you could me mail your working directory, minus license key, and I will try that?

I am going to be configuring zoom exactly like this, I went to the previous thread, but get a 404 when tying to see the doc on how to set it up. Is there another link on that?
Also, I am just now setting up zoom to work my m-Audio 410, can anyone point me at any documentation on configuring that?

Things have changed since 2.0 was put out.
1.) First install zoomplayer
2.) copy that directory folder into another similar named folder
3.) Edit the new Regpath Folder Zoom Player 1 folder
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERO NE
ZPONE
Zoom Player 2 folder
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VIRTUAMEDIA\ZOOMPLAYERT WO
ZPONE
4.) Start the zoomplayer and under options - advances - settings & values
enable TCP control and make the port #'s different ie 4760. 4761, 4762 ect ect. You will need to remember these for setup in CQC
5.) In each zoomplayer under options-basic-settings choose the M-Audio stereo pair for output and check use custom audio device. Uncheck allow multiple instances under the Advanced-Settings-other tab
6.) In CQC add the driver for zoomplayer and name them ZP1 ZP2 ZP3 ect ect or something similar. You will need one for each instance of Zoom and navigate to the exe file and add the TCP port#
Thats most of it.
