Our ISP is dropping in and out tonight for some reason. At least they are for me. So you may have some intermittent problems tonight. It'll work for a bit for me and then die again. It's not our server, but our ISP over all. I can't get to their site either when ours is not available.

The ISP problems are continuing, at least for me and Mark seems to be affected also. It's a DNS lookup problem, not an access problem. So when you try to get to the site via the DNS name, it doesn't resolve. I'm also having sporadic problems resolving our ISP's hosts as well. So it seems like it's something near to their end. Anyway, I'm aware of it and working with them to solve it.
Anyone else having any problems?

Can some of you guys do this:
1. Open a command prompt
2. Do "ipconfig /flushdns"
3. Then try to do "ping www.charmedquark.com"
Are you able to ping?

I was able to ping www.charmedquark.com (http://www.charmedquark.com) no problem.

Do you have a local DNS server? If so, you'd have to flush its cache also.

The Softlayer folks say that they have identified the issue and are working on it. So it's not just me hallucinating or anything. Or, at least I'm hallucinating about this. The three eyed woman in the nurse's outfit with the enormous syringe and chain saw could be a problem.

OK, looks like they have fixed it.

Just an FYI, this is the first time today that I have been able to log in. Already did a DNS flush. I am on Comcast.

I figured my DNS servers were why the problem only occurred a couple times. I'll let you know if it comes back.

I do not have any local DNS servers. Unless there is something hanging around on our network here at work.
I really know very little about them. Either way, I haven't had trouble connecting to the website after about 10am central time.

If you are on a Windows domain there, as a apposed to a workgroup, then you have a local DNS server. Anyway, it's fixed at this point and everyone seems happy again.

I hadno issues all day. :-)
I had massive issues all day, but not HA or CQC related.
At home relaxing with some decent cheese and some sparkling water, reading through the various HA forums. I am SUCH a yuppie...

I still can't get on from work. No DNS resolution whatsoever. Home is fine though...

You may need to flush your DNS cache at work, if it ended up getting a bogus address during the DNS problems we had a few days ago. If you still can't get through after that, let me know and we can get our ISP involved. It's always possible that some incorrect address propogated out to the DNS network.

I actually still have problems using my Verizon cellular modem. I was at an out of the office meeting today and I couldn't connect the whole time I used it. I flushed the DNS on my box and obviously I can't go further than that.

Can't flush what's not there. I get no resolution whatsoever, not to a wrong address, but no address.
It would appear that whatever DNS changes were made have not propogated everywhere yet.
I hope they are paying you for this outage. Free service or something.

Other than on that one day, everyone except you guys seems to be fine. Can you ping their DNS servers? They are ns1.softlayer.com and ns2.softlayer.com. And can you ping www.softlayer.com?

I was also having problems still from work since the problems started. I'm at home today so I can't test it.

The interesting thing about cellular is that it's probably not a valid test unless I'm in the same network that I had problems yesterday. In either case, I'm going to go out shortly and I'll test it then.

OK, whatever changed must have finally both propogated and timed out of your work servers' DNS cache. All's well that resolves well, as I say.
