With the new Series 3 HD out, I am looking into Tivo as a replacement for my Comcast DVR box. Since I do not have, know anything about, or have access to a Tivo, is it controllable from a PC? Either through IP or USB? I ask because I would LOVE ... repeat ... L-O-V-E ... to have a Tivo that can interface with CQC to provide a DVR repository of sorts. Sort of like the SageTV driver. Just use a touchscreen to bring up whats recorded on the Tivo and press to play it. The only problem I can think of, barring that Tivo can respond to commands via IP or USB, is that Dean would would have to write the repository driver himself.

I ask because having this functionality is the only reason that I could justify spending $1000 on a DVR box. Of course, I suppose I could justify it on the point that the Comcast DVR box is a flaming pile of cow dung, but I will try not to. :-D

I'm not sure Tivo can interface with Sage but possibly..I would search the dealdatabase forums http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/ and as well if a mod comes out these guys likely will have it first http://www.9thtee.com/tivoupgrades.htm

**I don't own a Tivo but know these links have most Tivo answers you will need, a Tivo can also be controlled using XBMC but not sure what models..you have alot of reading to do :-)

There's no way to do what you want even close on the S3 at the moment. It doesn't even have multi-room-viewing (MRV) at the moment, let alone TivoToGo (TTG) (which is how things like Galleon get a list of what's recorded).

There's no way on current S2's to trigger playback remotely and the S3's are basically the same, just dual tuner, hidef, and waiting for permission (from the cablelabs people) to enable all the (really quite basic) features older TiVos already have.

Automation is not a market that TiVo is even slightly interested in, either.

That said, I have an S3, and love it.

Chris.
