Anybody interested in sharing the purchase of a powerfile? I'm going to have to re-rip my CDs as I foolishly ripped to mp3. I'll most likely get one, eBay it myself once I'm done with it. If any other Bay Area folks are interested in using it, I could purchase it, we could coordinate a dropoff/pickup, then split whatever the loss is once the eBay is done.

Obviously we could do this with remote folks, but if shipping is $50 or so, it might be cheaper to just do this yourself. I'm sure we could get some eBay fool to give us decent $$ for it.

I was wondering the same thing.... If we got several peep together we good do this very inexpensively. I'm def interested but most my cash is going towards getting my car ready to run at Thunderhill in Nov.. after that I think I will be able to buy one.

I live in Marin and would be happy to split the cost.

Ok, I just put the order in. I got slowboat shipping as standard was $35. It also says "ships in 1-2 weeks", so I expect it just before Halloween.

FYI - Just got this in. Once Dean does the automagic ripping thing (post-2.0), i'll get my stuff done then it'll be ready for the sharing.

Let me know when you are ready.... maybe we can share the template so the transaction will go real smooth and fast. :-)

If you loan out your template for controlling and ripping the process will go faster won't it or don't we need a template to rip in CQC?

oh - dean is writing a script for that. It'll be outside the IV. It'll have to integrate the Media Repo Mgr stuff.

But yes, i'll walk you/bradishm through whatever needs to be done to get from here->there.

hey guys - i've actually gotten a decent amount of ripping done already without opening up the box for this changer. I think i'm going to sell it now, as I could probably recover the whole $300 for it given that it's N.I.B.

Given that I promised it to you guys, you can have first dibs at buying it. If not, that's cool too, i'll put it up here on the site first, if no takers, then i'll go to eBay.

What did you do with it?

Actually still got it sitting in the box. Now I'm contemplating keeping it and selling the 777 instead, so I can use the HTPC as a scaler.

The auto-rip driver isn't done yet, but if you're still interested in borrowing it for that let me know.

Is there a simple way to control the changer through CQC? Will the changer driver work for this particular piece of hardware? It seems like a very interesting solution as compared to a 777, and from what I can see on ebay, a little cheaper as well.

The driver is not available yet. It's probably a January thing, since I'm working mostly this month on drivers and small tweaks.

Sorry guys but what is the difference between a nas or other devices and a powerfile? How can it be used in the HA setup?

Do you have a list of which drivers you'll be working on?

In the immediate term:

1. Update Z-Wave driver
2. UPB driver
3. Update RadioRA for linked systems
4. The Sony changer

That'll keep me busy for a while.

Dean: Would you kindly summarize the Z-wave enhancements you've settled on? My contractor just installed a bunch of (non-zwave) Vizia switches, and I'm inclined to settle on those as a standard, particularly if we can get the 2-way bits working. The wife and kids really like the seemingly automagic ramping behavior, but they've seen nothing yet:-)

The primary concern is to support the newer remote controls from Internatic, to add support for some new device types like motion detectors and thermos, and some things like allowing some devices to be marked as one-way so that they are not polled, and some better debugging capabilities.

Dean,

In the UPB driver, are you planning on providing away to respond to a button press on a UPB keypad? That way we could initiate non lighting actions from a UPB keypad.

I don't have any plans right now other than 'write a UPB driver'. I've not even started looking at it yet.

I hate to bring this up again, but do your plans include a Winamp driver at some point or is the plan to have a third-party write that driver after you expose enough functionality?

I'll try to get that one in as well, though I'll have to look at what's involved.
