IVB;

OK so give e the short demo of how to get the Sage Guide into the CQC interface. I just started playing with Sage last weekend on my own system. Sage is not as stable as I want yet (freezes up every few hours during my testing) but I think that I hav\ve some crappy codecs.

Shockingly simple from the CQC side - it's actually just a web browser widget, pointed at the SageTV webserver. If you'd like, I can give you an overview of how to setup SageTV for this.

However, i'm not sure I'd recommend this for you as you're not looking for yourself, but rather to install onto clients homes. In that event, you may want to hold off until there's tighter CQC integration.

This would just be for me for now. I would hold off deploying anything like this until 1.7 or after is released. I will poke around with the interface tonight and will let you know if I can not figure it out. More important is the Codec issues; My picture quality is not where I want it and I still have the freezing problem.

BTW, 4 months ago I switched to using the elecard decoder with dScaler.

The picture quality is FANTASTIC. Truly the second I switched off the nVidia/default decoders and onto dScaler/Elecard, my wife literally hit me and said "why didn't you do this sooner? Now THIS is why we bought the plasma!". And that was on an SDTV screen, where the PQ is normally horrid.

this is for your PC and zoomplayer right? What video card and maybe some details about the decoder and dscaler would help me out :D

Actually it's to clean up SDTV playback via SageTV. As DVDs are 480p, and as I only have an EDTV set which are 480p, I can't help that much.

SDTV is 480i, so that needs some help. Plus DirecTV compresses the transmission.

There's not too many details, which is the nice thing. Buy the Elecard mpeg decoder for $15 and install it. (http://www.elecard.com/products/products-pc/codec-pack/mpeg2-decoder/) In SageTV, select the Elecard decoder. Then, go to the dScaler menu setting, click "enable", and you're done.

Nope. Not telling. It may be vaporware, but I did get Kirk to use the words "Hey - that's a good idea".

Just realized HVAC & floorplan view were missing in the first post, added that.

I was going to use variables for the floorplan view, but I'm going to switch to a nested overlay model as I want to layout different a/v options for folks based on the zone. Not actually sure that works, i'll find out soon enough.

New weather pics, check them out - they're halfway through the first post.

No real CQC stuff, just a few web pages that I linked to from web browser widgets. I used command buttons to set the URL for that widget.

Design them before hand and save yourself some time :-) What I do is draw things in photoshop.. buttons and all and save as one background image and put it into my system and then make changes as I go along..this way you have a good idea before hand of exactly what you want things to look like.

While you won't have things happening live as if the Elk was connected you can get a good idea how things look when they are on/off

Silly question IVB. Tinkering with the weather modules now off of your template with no art. When I plug in a weather image as noted in your post above, it opens up a seperate web page outside of CQC. Is there a setting I'm missing some where?

Thought I'd bump this, as I haven't used these screens in >12 months and the newcomers may be interested in seeing how I was pursuing a fully art-based setup when I first started with CQC.

IVB,

How you use together SageTV and CQC audio(mp3 archive) storage?
or you use only one of them?

IVB
03-26-2008, 10:12 AM
not sure I follow the question. There's a Sage Driver that holds just the recording schedule & data, and the CQC Media Repo driver that holds all my .wma data.

I means when you go on SageTV Client to "Media Center" -> "Music" do you see all your albums, etc ?

If you have SageTV search those folders for music files, then SageTV should pick them up. If you play them through SageTV, it won't affect the CQC system. It will effectively duplicate what most of us are doing with the CQC Audio player. I personally did have SageTV find those files when I first started using Sage, and when I realized what it was doing, and made it stop looking for those files. Now I simply don't look for those files in Sage. You can specify what you want Sage to look for (video, pictures, music) and import.

Yeah, I don't use SageTV for it either. I don't see the point as I have CQC for that.

IVB,sic0048,
Why? I will have like 7 clients for SageTV, and Nuvo Grand Concerto with 6 zones and both of them I want to feed from same storage.
That will allows my 3 years child to use his TVset with HD Extender to hear music from collection. Same my wife in kitchen where TVset with HD Extender...

so on...
i do not undestand why you not use it this way?

IVB
03-27-2008, 07:41 AM
Oh - will you have your Extender audio output going back to the central source, or will it be wired directly to the TV?

Speaking only for me, I don't want to have to turn the TV on to select and listen to music. My Extender audio wiring goes to the TV though, not back to the central source.

HD Extender will wired direct to TVset. (via DDTS-100 box, becouse HD extender does not decode DTS, and I have movies with DTS)

What the problem to power on the TV, to have nice menu to choice the right music to hear?
I have some 70Gb of music ;)
how do you choice the right one to hear from big quantity?

I put Nuvo Grand Concerto powered speakers and keypads on walls - where no TV in the room: living room, dinner room, etc.
in rooms where the TVset (master bed room, child's rooms, Hometheater room, etc..) I will put HD Extender or SageTV Client to hear audio and/or see video/tv.

May be I did it wrong? Please advice.

it's entirely a personal decision; for me, my house is only 1650 sqft, and the kitchen touchscreen is only 25' from any location (mostly). Hence, it's not really a big deal to walk there to select a song. Alternatively, i have a UMPC in the MBR also.

I play audio through the NuVo/inwall speakers, so I don't need the TV to listen to music at all. Hope that helps.
