"HVAC"

HVAC is an abbreviation that stands for "Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning". In many homes, this might be the only system that actually has any sort of built in automation. The thermostat on your central air system is a simple kind of automation system, in that it automatically monitors the temperature and turns on the heat if it goes below a certain point and the air conditioning if it goes above. There are various 'communicating thermostats' today that a system like CQC can talk to in order to get information from it, or to ask it to change the high/low temperatures and so forth. Fancier systems allow the control over ducting systems, humidity control and other aspects of environmental control.
